Randolph County family grieves after woman killed in a Greensboro crash

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Randolph County family is mourning a devastating loss and questioning whether justice has been served. It has been four days since 30-year-old Brittany Jordan lost her life. On Friday afternoon, she and her husband were stopped at a red light just after 4 p.m., in the area of Freeman Mill Road and Coliseum Boulevard in Greensboro. Police say another driver slammed into them from behind, pushing their car forward into the vehicles in front of them. Brittany was killed in the crash, and Thomas's life turned upside down. “My world stopped. My world stopped right then and there,” said Thomas Jordan, who was in the passenger seat of his wife's car. The initial collision caused a chain reaction crash, and Thomas remembers watching helplessly as first responders worked to save their lives. “They kept asking if I was OK, if I was OK, and I told them, 'I don't need you to worry about me. I need you to worry about her,' because she looked like she was in bad shape,” Thomas said. Brittany Jordan didn't make it. Now, every day is a reminder of what he lost: his wife, his best friend, Brittany. “Now that she is gone, I'm lost and confused,” Thomas said.  Brittany’s mother and sister say they are still processing what happened. “None of us really have closure," said Candice Outlaw, the victim’s sister. "She was just took. We haven't seen her or anything. There is not that physical of seeing someone’s body and having that closure.” Through the grief, Outlaw and Brittany’s family wants people to know, "everything she had, she put her heart and soul into it. If anybody got to know her, they loved her immediately." Bryson Spruill, 25, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed. According to the citation, investigators say Spruill failed to slow down, and that violation was the cause of Brittany's death. Brittany’s family says those charges don’t reflect the magnitude of their loss. “My wife’s life was taken that day, and the misdemeanor, that is not right,” Thomas said. Greensboro police say this crash is still under investigation, and it is possible there could be more charges, depending on where the investigation leads.
