Worker killed in forklift accident at Nashville construction site
Detectives are investigating an apparent accidental death at a construction site on Ambrose Avenue.Police said 42-year-old Stephen Mattson died Wednesday morning at a site in the 3000 block of Ambrose Avenue.According to the preliminary investigation, a worker was operating a forklift while moving lumber up a hill to the main site when the vehicle’s electronics suddenly powered off.Authorities said the forklift then began rolling backward down the hill. The operator tried to brake and steer away but was unable to avoid Mattson, who was operating an excavator at the bottom.Mattson was pinned between the forklift and the excavator and died at the scene.The investigation remains ongoing.
