Woman was drunk when she caused fatal wrong-way crash in Hillsborough, records say

A Brandon woman has been arrested on multiple charges in connection with a wrong-way crash that killed another woman in Hillsborough County last month.Elizabeth June Martin, 22, of Brandon is facing charges that include DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in connection with the Jan. 24 crash, which occurred on U.S. 301 near Harney Road in the Temple Terrace area, court records show.Martin was driving a Chevrolet Camaro the wrong way on 301 at about 12:30 a.m. that day when she hit a GMC Terrain head-on. The Terrain caught on fire, records state.A passenger in the Terrain, Carol Gravely, was killed, according to records. The driver of the Terrain, David Gravely, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries, records state.The driver of a Toyota Camry, Trey Da’Vanute Hamilton, collided with the Camaro. He also suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, records state.Martin initially told the Florida Highway Patrol that she wasn’t driving the Camaro at the time of the crash, but evidence collected from the vehicle contradicted that statement, records state.Martin later told investigators that she was driving. Blood taken from her at a local hospital also showed she was impaired at the time, according to records.She also had been speeding at the time of the crash, going about 15 mph above the 55-mph speed limit, records state.Martin was arrested Tuesday. She was being held at the Falkenburg Road jail on Friday without bond, records show.
