Woman in Buffalo receives sentence for garbage truck accident that 'devastated child's future'

In Buffalo, New York, a woman was given a sentence for causing a life-altering accident that left a teenager paralyzed. Last year, Sasiya Davis-Johnson hit the boy with a garbage truck while driving recklessly in reverse at excessive speed. As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries, had to undergo leg amputation, and is now paralyzed. Despite the victim's agreement to a reduced plea deal, Davis-Johnson was sentenced to three years of probation and had her license revoked for the same duration. The District Attorney, Mike Keane, expressed that while the outcome may not bring justice to the victim, it was deemed acceptable by the victim and his legal counsel. Keane described the incident as an act of recklessness that tragically altered the teenager's life. Davis-Johnson had requested a conditional discharge, which was denied.
