Woman faces DUI charge following deadly accident near Purdy.
A woman from Purdy, Missouri is now facing charges after she allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian while driving under the influence of marijuana. Amberel Macdermant, 42, is currently being held in the Barry County Jail without bond on a charge of driving while intoxicated involving a death. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Farm Road 1090, two miles north of Purdy, where Macdermant struck and killed Lilly Peterson, 84, of Monett. Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. Macdermant initially denied consuming alcohol, but admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier in the day when questioned by troopers, as noted in court records. An investigation revealed that she performed poorly on a field sobriety test.
