Woman dies in head-on crash in LaPorte County

A woman is dead after a head-on crash in LaPorte County. The crash happened just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday on State Road 39, south of CR 1500 South. Police say a car was traveling north on SR 39 when it crossed the center line and struck a south bound Jeep. Sarah J. Geressy, 41, of Burns Harbor, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver of the Jeep suffered a lower body injury. Police say toxicology results are pending.
