Woman dies in crash that left car on downtown L.A. train tracks
A woman died in a rollover crash in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night, authorities say. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, one of the vehicles involved was driving southbound on Flower Street when it collided with a vehicle traveling eastbound on Washington Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed separately that the collision caused one of the vehicles involved to roll over onto adjacent train tracks but did not hit any train. Per LAPD, the preliminary investigation revealed that the car traveling east on Washington entered the intersection and hit the vehicle going south on Flower, causing the former to flip. The driver of that car, identified by police as an adult female, was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Officials said the other motorist involved stayed at the scene; it is believed they did not sustain any injuries. What caused the crash is not known, and it’s unclear whether speed or impairment was a factor. Alexis Lewis contributed to this report.
