Woman critically injured after hitting light pole on Rancho Drive near Vegas Drive

A 30-year-old woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Rancho Drive in Las Vegas, police said. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened at about 12:10 a.m. on Rancho Drive south of Riverside Drive near Vegas Drive. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated the woman was driving a silver Toyota Scion iM southbound on Rancho Drive when she failed to maintain her lane, veered left, and hit the center concrete median, police said. The vehicle continued southbound before the front of the Toyota struck a light pole and came to rest on the center median, according to LVMPD. Emergency Medical Services took the driver to the University Medical Center Trauma Center for treatment. Police said she was admitted and remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment, and a DUI investigation was completed. The crash remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
