Woman charged after fatal pedestrian crash in Barry County
BARRY COUNTY, Mo. — A woman has been charged after a fatal pedestrian crash in Barry County in 2025. According to online court dockets, Jordan Arevalo, born in 1998, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has been charged with a felony of DWI - death of another not a passenger and a misdemeanor of an owner operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. The probable cause statement says the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded to the crash on Aug. 23, 2025, on Route J, discovering the pedestrian was transported to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries. MSHP states that Arevalo was identified as the driver of a 2012 Acura, who was the only person inside the vehicle in the incident. A corporal said in the statement that Arevalo's speech was slurred, she had watery and glassy eyes and was swaying while walking. Arevalo was reported to have had a strong odor of intoxicants from her breath, which was later tested during a preliminary breath test, which showed a .08% blood alcohol concentration. The victim was later pronounced dead on Sept. 6, 2025, due to injuries from the crash. A warrant has been issued for Arevalo's arrest with a $100,000 bond.
