(WOWK) – Funeral arrangements are underway for a coal miner that died on Friday after an accident in Raleigh County. Alpha Metallurgical Resources officials said Aaron Warrix, 53, of Chapmanville, was injured when he was struck by a piece of rock at Panther Eagle Horse Creek Mine in the area of Eskdale. Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers put out an alert for the accident on Thursday night, but on Friday, his death was announced. Latest News: To remember him, the Warrix family said in a Facebook post that a service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville. The post said visitation for family and friends starts at noon while the service starts a 1 p.m. Aaron will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill after the service. Alpha Metallurgical Resources officials said Aaron was a shuttle car operator and had 4.5 years of experience with the company. The investigation into the accident is underway.
