Wheeling police investigate death after apparent bicycle crash on Heritage Trail
WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling police are investigating the death of a man who died after an apparent bicycle accident on the Heritage Trail near the I-470 bridge in South Wheeling. Officers and Wheeling Fire Department personnel responded to a reported medical emergency on the trail at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Police later determined the incident involved an apparent bicycle accident. The man later died from his injuries. Police said there are no ongoing public safety concerns, and the Heritage Trail remains open.
