West Warwick police cruiser crashes due to slippery roads
Two West Warwick police officers were injured when their patrol car was hit by another vehicle during the Sunday snowstorm at around 1:30 p.m. on Wakefield Street. The collision occurred in heavy snowfall, causing the other driver to lose control on the slippery road and collide head-on with the cruiser. Fortunately, both officers sustained only minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery. Details about the driver of the other vehicle were not immediately available. Police are advising the public to avoid driving as the storm worsens and travel conditions become more hazardous. A photo shared by the department shows the damaged cruiser and debris scattered on the snowy ground. "We are fortunate that this incident was not more severe," the department stated on social media, emphasizing the importance of staying off the roads during such weather conditions. They suggested staying home where it's safe and warm and watching the Patriots play the Broncos on TV instead. The department would rather enjoy the game than respond to additional accidents.
