West Liberty Avenue closed after crash brings down pole in Pittsburgh

West Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh was closed because of a crash and a downed pole Monday morning.The road was shut down between Curranhill and Pioneer avenues in the Beechview and Brookline area of the city.Pittsburgh Public Safety said a vehicle struck a pole near the intersection of West Liberty and Cape May avenues at about 6:30 a.m.One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition, public safety officials said.Heavy backups were reported in the South Hills, especially on Banksville Road, for traffic headed toward I-376 on Monday morning.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
