WCSO: 17-year-old dead after crash on Highway 11E in Jonesborough, speed a factor

TELFORD, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) said a 17-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday on Highway 11E in Jonesborough. A news release from the WCSO said deputies responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday at around 4 p.m. on Highway 11E (Andrew Johnson Highway) near the Jonesborough Flea Market. The WCSO said a 17-year-old male driver died, and two passengers, one of whom was another juvenile, were transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. "The preliminary investigation by WCSO’s Crash Reconstruction Team determined that the vehicle was traveling well above the posted 65 mph speed limit when the driver lost control due to weaving in and out of traffic and struck a metal utility pole," the release states.
