Waterloo man identified as victim in fatal motorcycle crash

Authorities have identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in Waterloo. The Waterloo Police Department said 43-year-old Marcus Porter of Waterloo died after crashing his motorcycle on Sergeant Road near Freedom Lane. Officers were called to the scene at about 3:47 p.m. Wednesday after Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the crash. When officers arrived, they found Porter had been thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, Porter was traveling north on Sergeant Road on a green 2001 Kawasaki ZX900 when the motorcycle left the roadway, entered the shoulder and crashed into the median. The crash remains under investigation.
