Warren man sentenced in fatal hit-and-run crash in Niles
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - A Warren man who admitted to his role in a crash that killed Brenda Hibbard will be spending several years behind bars.Wayne Keeley was back in a Trumbull County Courtroom on Wednesday, where he was sentenced to 48 months, or 4 years, in prison.Keeley previously pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident. Both are third-degree felonies. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter.Keeley was charged following the October 2025 crash on Fifth Street at Indiana Avenue in Niles. Investigators say Keeley’s truck veered off the road, struck a shed, and then hit Hibbard as she investigated the noise. Hibbard was found unresponsive in a yard and later died from her injuries. Keeley, who left the scene in the truck, was later arrested after a citizen’s tip. Police say he told them he fell asleep at the wheel on his way home from work and panicked when he woke up.
