VSP: Fatal motorcycle crash on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A motorcyclist is dead after he hit a Honda pickup truck from behind while driving on Interstate 81, according to Virginia State Police. (VSP) The crash happened on Tuesday, July 7, at 6:07 p.m. on Interstate 81, one-half mile south of Brughes Mill Road in Botetourt County. Police say a 1994 Harley-Davidson was heading north on I-81, cruising in and out of traffic and driving between vehicles. According to VSP, the motorcyclist struck a 2002 Honda pickup truck from behind. VSP identified the operator of the motorcycle as 36-year-old Andrew David Lee Camp, of Callaway, Va. Police say Camp was wearing his helmet and died at the scene. The driver of the Honda has no injuries and no charges are pending. The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to help with the crash. VSP continues to investigate this crash.
