Virginia teenager arrested for intentionally setting multiple fires in small town

A teenager has been taken into custody in connection with a series of three structure fires that occurred in the small town of Stony Creek in rural Sussex County within a span of seven days. One of the incidents, which took place on Sunday afternoon, resulted in an empty home being engulfed in flames and spreading to a neighboring vacant house. The Stony Creek Fire Department reported that this was the third fire to hit the town of about 175 residents in a week. Local authorities suspect the teenager is behind all three arson incidents. The incidents have caused concern among residents, with Town Council Member John Kollmann emphasizing that these fires were intentional and not accidental. Law enforcement officials, including an arson investigator from Virginia State Police, are working on the case to gather evidence and conduct a thorough investigation. Stony Creek is located about 45 miles away from Richmond. Feel free to send additional information about this story to the CBS 6 Newsroom through our various platforms.
