VIDEO: Car soars through air, crashes into Tigard home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- KOIN 6 obtained video of a car soaring through the air and into a Tigard home. The truck flew through the front door early Friday morning, leaving the home unlivable. The driver is now behind bars and a family is displaced. Police say the truck was recklessly driving through an intersection, hit a dirt mound, and was launched through the air for more than 100 feet, clearing a brick wall before landing inside the home. The family was sound asleep at the time, but they got a rude awakening. “I got woken up, just the slamming and the house rumbled and like, it was, it was crazy,” said homeowner David Brudnok. “And then my wife was, was knitting in the room just right there and, and I heard her start screaming my name.” The truck left a massive hole in his home, destroying what was once the bathroom, Brudnok said. Brudnok got himself, his wife, and his young children out of the house to safety. The ordeal left the entire family uninjured but shaken. According to the Tigard Police Department, the driver was speeding prior to the crash, which occurred just before 3 a.m. on Scholls Ferry Road. Jacob Hankins, 33, is accused of reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
