Vermont trooper injured in two-car collision in Bennington
BENNINGTON, Vt. (NEWS10) -- A Vermont State Police trooper was injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 7 in Bennington on Tuesday afternoon. Sgt. Justin Walker of the Shaftsbury Barracks was responding to a call when he was involved in the collision. At about 4:38 p.m., in his marked Vermont State Police cruiser, Walker responded to a crash that took place a few minutes prior on Vermont Route 279 to assist the Bennington Police Department. While driving with his police lights on and siren activated, his cruiser was involved in a collision with another vehicle near the intersection of Kocher Drive. Both vehicles came to a rest on the side of the road. Walker was sent to the hospital, where he was treated for suspected minor injuries and released. The occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash were not injured. The Bennington Police Department are leading the investigation into the crash.
