Vehicle overturns, teeters off bridge in Oceanside crash
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Emergency crews responded to a dramatic crash in Oceanside Saturday night after two vehicles overturned, leaving one precariously balanced on the edge a bridge. According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the area of El Camino Real and Mesa Drive. Officials said both vehicles involved had overturned with one coming to rest against a light post and partially teetering over the ledge of a bridge located above a culvert. Fire crews arrived to find each vehicle was occupied by a single person. Due to the dangerous position of the vehicle on the bridge, firefighters worked to stabilize it before beginning rescue operations. Crews then used specialized extrication equipment to safely reach and remove the driver. Both people were reported to be in stable condition and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The Oceanside Police Department is actively investigation the cause of the crash. No further details surrounding the circumstances leading up to the incident were immediately provided.
