Vehicle collides with Dorchester pond, authorities report
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, Rumney Fire, with support from Plymouth Fire Rescue and Wentworth Fire and EMS, responded to a car accident on Route 118 in Dorchester. The initial report indicated that a vehicle had gone off the road and into a pond with the driver still inside. Upon arriving at the scene, Chief Evan Hacker of Rumney Fire confirmed that the vehicle was in knee-deep water. Patient care was immediately started, and additional help arrived to assist. A plan was put in place to safely extract the patient and transfer them to the Plymouth Ambulance. After the patient was rescued, they were taken to the hospital for treatment. Crews from Rumney remained at the scene to remove the vehicle, and by 3 a.m., all teams were back in service.
