Upstate man dies after chase, crash, troopers say
A Spartanburg, South Carolina, man died in a crash after a chase that started in North Carolina and ended in South Carolina, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said a deputy tried to pull over a car at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on Landrum Road.They said the driver did not stop and a chase started. It continued into Landrum in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. According to deputies, the driver lost control while making a turn and crashed on Hunting Country Road.The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Willie Gist, 31, of Spartanburg died in the crash.
