UPS expects 'months of disruptions' due to grounding fleet after Kentucky crash

UPS Airlines has decided to suspend the use of its entire fleet of cargo jets due to safety concerns, particularly focusing on the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 planes after a recent tragic crash in Kentucky. The airline anticipates that these aircraft will not be back in service for several months, resulting in potential disruptions during the busy holiday season. The crash occurred right after takeoff, causing the death of 14 individuals. UPS had promptly grounded its fleet following the incident and is now working to meet FAA guidelines before resuming operations. UPS President Bill Moore noted that the inspection and repair process for the MD-11 fleet will be more extensive than initially thought. FedEx has also taken similar precautions by grounding its MD-11 planes.
