Update: Police seeking driver after fatal Urbana crash.
The pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in Urbana early Saturday morning has sadly passed away from their injuries, and the driver involved has fled the scene. The Urbana Police Department is currently searching for the driver of the red Buick responsible for the crash at the Green Street and Mathews Avenue intersection. The University of Illinois Police officer involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was treated at Carle Hospital. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and the police are not releasing the names of those involved at this time.
