Update: Driver dies after single-vehicle crash in Des Moines
A 31-year-old man has died hours after a Thursday morning single-vehicle crash.Des Moines police say a crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday near East 7th Street and East Ovid Avenue. Evidence at the scene indicates a man was driving a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck when he lost control while driving westbound in the 700 block of East Ovid Avenue, striking a utility pole, fence and tree before coming to a rest against a house.Previous video above.Police say East Ovid Avenue will be closed for about two hours Thursday morning while crews are at the scene. Repair crews are also working to fix the utility pole.The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
