Universal Studios Orlando roller coaster fatality determined to be accidental.
A 32-year-old man passed away following a ride on a high-speed roller coaster at a Universal Studios theme park, and after an investigation, law enforcement authorities in Florida determined his death to be accidental. According to a report from the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, security footage showed the man, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, appearing engaged at the beginning of the ride but then unresponsive and slouched over in his seat at the end. Zavala experienced severe facial injuries when the ride concluded, and paramedics faced challenges releasing him from his seat for about ten minutes. His girlfriend, also on the ride, stated that Zavala used a wheelchair due to a spinal disability since birth, but experts have ruled that his disability was not a contributing factor to his death on September 17. The medical examiner determined that Zavala's passing was due to blunt-force injuries sustained during the ride on the coaster, which can reach speeds of up to 62 mph and opened along with Universal Orlando Resort's newest theme park in May.
