Two people hospitalized in single car crash in Saline County on Saturday
A single-vehicle crash in Saline County Saturday night sent two people to the hospital after a car overturned along U.S. Highway 65 near Jasmine Avenue. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred at 9:28 p.m. when a 25-year-old Slater man was driving a 2005 Ford Focus southbound on Highway 65. Troopers say the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the right side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected, and the car slid back across the roadway in reverse before leaving the road again. The vehicle overturned and struck an embankment. The driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. A 24-year-old female passenger from Marshall sustained minor injuries and was also taken to University of Missouri Hospital. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the patrol report. The Ford Focus was totaled in the crash and was removed from the scene by Thompson's Towing.
