Two men killed in Pecos County crash involving pickup, semi
PECOS COUNTY — Two men have died following a fatal crash in which one vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Josea Manuel Gonzales, 57, of Gilroy, California, was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, Tommy Dale Watkins, 54, of Thorntonville, Texas, was also pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. DPS said the collision occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. March 28 at Farm to Market Road 1776 at mile marker 369. Preliminary information from DPS indicated a 2024 Ford F-150 was northbound on FM 1776. Another vehicle, a 2005 Peterbilt towing a trailer, was traveling southbound on FM 1776 when the driver failed to maintain a single lane, causing the Peterbilt to drift into the northbound lane and collide with the Ford F-150. The Peterbilt then became fully engulfed in flames. The crash remains under investigation. No additional information has been released.
