Two killed in three-vehicle crash in southeast Kansas
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two people are dead after a three-vehicle crash in southeast Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol said it happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday on Montgomery County Road 3900 between Dearing and U.S. Highway 166, west of Coffeyville. Troopers said Michael Swanzy, 37, of Independence was going north on 3900 Road in a Dodge Charger when he went left of center and sideswiped a Nissan Altima. The Charger kept going in the southbound lane, crashing head-on into a bus driven by 67-year-old Timothy Housel of South Coffeyville. Swanzy and Housel were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was not hurt. No passengers were on the bus. KHP has not said what caused Swanzy to lose control.
