Editor's Note: This article has been updated regarding information received in a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. WICHITA COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — Two semi trucks were involved in a wreck, resulting in two fatalities just west of Iowa Park. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at around 12:29 a.m., two trucks were traveling on 287, one going northbound while the other was traveling southbound, according to Wichita County Sheriff William Rutledge. In a preliminary report from the Department of Public Safety, a 2020 Peterbilt Truck tractor towing a 2021 Wilson semi-trailer was traveling southeastbound on U.S. 287 in wet, extremely windy conditions. The wind conditions caused the vehicle to lose control and travel off the right side of the roadway as it approached an overpass. The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle overcorrected to the left, causing the truck and trailer to roll over onto the passenger side. The vehicle then struck a guardrail, coming to a rest entangled in the guardrail and facing northeast on the improved shoulder. Both the driver and passenger were pronounced deceased on the scene. The occupants of the vehicle were revealed to be Joshua Brad Sneed, 43, male, from Banks, Alabama and Ashley Ramirez De los Santos Corona, 31, female, from Thomasville, Georgia. Both occupants were found without a seatbelt in use. The crash is under investigation by the Department of Public Safety as of the publication of this story. No further information is known at this time.
