Two injured, one seriously, during collision north of Johnston
JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Authorities say two people were injured Friday during a car crash north of Johnston. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the crash was reported shortly after 5 p.m. when its Communications Center began receiving 911 calls. Authorities say the collision took place in the 9900 block of NW Beaver Drive, north of Johnston. Law enforcement arrived on scene, where the two vehicles involved in the crash were located. Each vehicle had one occupant, and both were taken to the hospital with injuries, the sheriff's office said. Emergency medical personnel at the scene reported that one driver had sustained serious injuries while the other had minor injuries. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of NW Beaver Drive are currently closed while PCSO deputies conduct their investigation into this crash. No other information is available at this time.
