Two dead following head-on crash south of Wilton

WILTON, ND (KXNET) — On the morning of Sunday, February 8, a head-on collision happened on Highway 83, killing two people. According to NDHP, an 80-year-old woman from Williston was driving a 2021 GMC Acadia, traveling south in the northbound lanes of Highway 83, and hit a 21-year-old Bismarck woman in a 2016 Nissan Maxima head-on. The crash happened 6 miles south of Wilton in Burleigh County. According to NDHP, the Williston woman was wearing a seat belt while the Bismarck woman was not. NDHP says roads were wet with foggy conditions. NDHP says both drivers were transported to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck and died from their injuries sustained in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
