Two dead after motorcycle crash on the Tail Of The Dragon in Blount County
BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people are dead after a motorcycle traveling on US 129, which is known as the Tail Of The Dragon, struck an embankment Tuesday morning. A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol states that the crash happened near mile marker 5 at approximately 11:49 a.m. At that time, a Harley-Davidson tricycle was traveling south on Highway 129. When the motorcycle approached a sharp right curve, THP said it failed to maintain it's lane and continued straight, running off the roadway. The motorcycle then struck an embankment before coming to a rest partially in the north bound lane of travel. The driver and passenger on the motorcycle died as a result of the crash. The THP report identified them as Eduardo Falcone, 59, and Mariano Maldondo, 55, both of Florida. Both Flacone and Maldondo were wearing helmets. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
