Two dead after crash on US-40 near Strawberry Reservoir

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Two people are dead after crashing into a box truck on US-40 near Strawberry Reservoir. At approximately 2:30 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) received reports of a head-on collision involving a box truck and a pickup near milepost 51. Both the pickup's driver, a 39-year-old male, and passenger, a 34-year-old male, were pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the box truck was transported to the hospital, where they are reportedly in stable condition. According to UHP, the eastbound box truck failed to maintain its lane and swerved to the right. Its driver overcorrected and crossed the center divider into the path of a pickup truck traveling westbound. Westbound lanes are closed as UHP works to determine the cause of the crash. Police are directing alternating traffic in the eastbound lanes during cleanup. There is no further information available at this time.
