Truck launched off overpass in 210 Freeway crash

A pickup truck was caught on video as it soared through the air and landed on the 210 Freeway in Rialto on Friday evening. This caused a severe two-vehicle crash that resulted in the closure of traffic in both directions for several hours. The incident occurred at around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 near Linden Avenue and Renaissance Parkway. Rialto police reported that a white Ford F-150 was headed north on Linden Avenue when the driver suddenly swerved right, crossed a dirt field, crashed through a Caltrans fence, and then went airborne. The truck then flew off the overpass, landing in the eastbound carpool lane of the 210, where it was hit by a white GMC Acadia also traveling in the same lane. This collision caused both vehicles to overturn, with the pickup ending up in the westbound lanes. While the video footage captured by driver Vanessa Alveal shows the truck flying through the air moments before the crash, it did not depict the truck leaving the road or the crash itself. Both drivers—the 36-year-old from Compton in the F-150 and the 51-year-old from Glendora in the GMC—were taken to a trauma center and were reported to be in stable condition that same night. Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident, but are continuing to investigate the reason behind the truck veering off Linden Avenue. Traffic lanes in both directions were completely blocked during the response and were reopened at 10:44 p.m. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with more information or dashcam footage is encouraged to reach out to the Rialto Police Department.
