Truck driver killed in crash on Highway 30 in eastern Iowa

A truck driver was killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 30 near Atkins in eastern Iowa on Monday night.The Iowa State Patrol said a driver from Cedar Rapids rear-ended a pickup truck, causing the truck to go into a ditch, cross the median, and roll several times. Authorities said no charges have been filed at this time.According to the latest data from the Iowa Department of Transportation, 70 people have died so far this year on Iowa roads. That number is 16 more than at the same point in 2025. Over the last five years, an average of 337 people have been killed in statewide crashes annually.
