Trooper hurt in Brevard I-95 chase ending in guardrail crash, per FHP

On Christmas Day, a law enforcement officer was injured in Brevard County following a pursuit on Interstate 95 that culminated in a collision, stated the Florida Highway Patrol. The trooper was attempting to stop a Mercedes-Benz driver who was driving recklessly in the southbound lanes of the interstate in Titusville. Following a PIT maneuver executed by the trooper to halt the vehicle, both the Mercedes-Benz and the FHP patrol car veered off the road and struck the guardrail. The trooper was then taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Both the driver and the passenger of the Mercedes-Benz were subsequently apprehended, with pending charges against the driver. The passenger has an outstanding warrant from Broward County, as per FHP. Investigation into the speeds of the vehicles is ongoing. The collision necessitated the temporary closure of a section of southbound I-95 in Brevard County. Traffic was blocked at State Road 46 for a few hours while crews worked to clear the crash site. Fortunately, the roadway has since been reopened.
