Kenton County police: Driver died after crashing into embankment head-on

An Independence man is dead after he crashed his vehicle into an embankment in Kenton County late Tuesday night, according to the Kenton County Police Department. The crash happened at around 11:21 p.m. Tuesday night near the former city of Visalia. Police said 42-year-old Joshua Thomas Rawe was driving a black Chevy Silverado on KY-536, or Visalia Road, when he crossed over the railroad crossing and drove across Decoursey Pike. From there, Rawe crashed into a dirt embankment head-on, police said. Rawe was pronounced dead at the scene; police said there were no other people in the vehicle and no other vehicles involved in the crash. A WCPO crew was at the scene of the crash, which happened on Decoursey Pike, around 1:30 a.m. At the scene, our crew saw a vehicle off the side of the roadway. While our crew was on scene, the Kenton County Coroner's Office arrived. The intersection of Decoursey Pike and Creektrace Road was closed while police investigated the crash.
