Trinity Road reopens after car crashing into tree leaves 3 seriously injured, Cary police say
CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — A crash in Cary where a car hit a tree has left three injured, including one in critical condition, early Sunday morning on Trinity Road. The driver has also been charged since recovering from the crash. According to the Cary Police Department, officers were called to a single-vehicle crash around 3:20 a.m. on Trinity Road near Cooper Road. Officers determined during their investigation that the driver of the black Honda Accord lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. A spokesperson for Cary police said all three occupants of the Honda were trapped. "First responders successfully extricated all three occupants," said the spokesperson, "and they were transported with serious injuries, one of them is life-threatening." A sedan has sustained heavy damage in the front and side of the vehicle in front of a tree it struck, which was also heavily damaged, according to our CBS 17 crew arriving to the scene. Officers told CBS 17 that the driver, 23-year-old Trent Elington Turner of Durham, was charged in this crash. According to court records, he faces two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle for impaired driving that police said in the warrant caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing. Trinity Road was closed for over 5 hours with police tape near Chapel Hill Road.
