A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday in northeast Colombia when a small plane crashed in a rural area of Norte de Santander, claiming the lives of all 15 individuals on board, including a local lawmaker. The state-owned airline, Satena, which operated the ill-fated flight, shared that local officials in Curasica raised the alarm on the plane's location, prompting a rescue team to investigate the passengers' condition. After locating the aircraft with registration number HK4709, authorities sadly confirmed that there were no survivors. The flight had departed from Cúcuta and was headed to Ocaña, a journey that typically lasts about 40 minutes. Although the cause of the crash remains unknown, an investigation is underway. The passengers included politicians, Diógenes Quintero, a prominent human rights defender, and Carlos Salcedo, a candidate in the upcoming congressional elections. The U Party expressed sorrow over Quintero's passing, highlighting his dedication to serving his region and commitment to the well-being of others.
