Tragic plane crash claims Greg Biffle and family

Retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, along with his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, and Greg's daughter Emma from his previous marriage, tragically lost their lives in a Cessna C550 jet crash at Statesville Regional Airport on Thursday. Also on board were Dennis Dutton and his son Jack, as well as Craig Wadsworth, who also perished in the accident. The Biffle, Grossu, Dutton & Lunders Families issued a joint statement, while NASCAR, including driver Bubba Wallace, expressed sorrow over the loss on social media. The plane, registered as a Cessna C550 with tail number N257BW, had departed from and was returning to Statesville before the crash. The deceased airliner was owned by GB Aviation Leasing LLC, a company owned by Biffle. Investigation is underway by the NTSB and FAA to determine the cause of the crash. Officials have closed the airport for debris cleanup, and the Statesville Regional Airport, located north of Charlotte, primarily serves corporate aviation facilities for Fortune 500 companies and NASCAR teams. AccuWeather reported light precipitation and clouds at the time of the crash. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
