TRAFFIC ALERT: 2 killed in semi-truck crash on US-30

VERMILION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) -- Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Friday morning, Feb. 13, according to state troopers. U.S. Route 30 closed Friday morning in both directions near the state Route 511 intersection. The Ohio Department of Transportation is advising motorists to find a different route. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers in Ashland told FOX 8 News the crash happened just after 6 a.m. and involved a semi-tractor trailer and two passenger vehicles. Two people were killed, according to the patrol. Another person involved in the crash was flown from the scene to a hospital. ODOT has established a detour while crews work to clear the scene. Eastbound lanes reopened at about 9:45 a.m., according to ODOT, while all westbound lanes remained closed. Ashland and Hayesville firefighters responded to the scene to suppress a fire and rescue victims, according to the release. The crash remains under investigation. This is a developing story.
