Toombs County deputy in fatal accident
A tragic incident occurred in Toombs County, Georgia, involving a collision between a Toombs County Sheriff's Office deputy and a Vidalia man, resulting in the man's passing. The collision occurred on Monday evening at the junction of Hwy 1 and Five Points Road. Witnesses reported that a Sheriff's Office truck driven by Jamiya Perry collided with a blue van driven by James Wilbanks, 82. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found Perry walking, while Wilbanks was unfortunately trapped in his vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries. An investigation by the Georgia State Patrol found that Wilbanks failed to yield to the truck, leading to the collision.
