Three sent to hospital after bus slides off road in Truxton

TRUXTON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A Homer Central School District bus carrying 11 elementary students overturned at an intersection in Truxton on Feb. 9, sending three children to the hospital. The accident occurred at approximately 8:35 a.m. at the intersection of South Hill Road and Singleton Road. New York State Police at Homer arrived at the scene to find the school bus on its side. In addition to the 11 students, a school bus driver and an aide were onboard the vehicle at the time of the crash. Emergency medical personnel transported a 7-year-old female, a 7-year-old male and a 9-year-old male to Upstate University Hospital. According to the New York State Police, the children were treated for two head injuries and one hand injury. Several other minor injuries were reported among the remaining passengers at the scene. These students did not require ambulance transport and were instead moved to a different school bus to be taken to the Homer Central School District. The New York State Police at Homer led the response and were assisted by multiple local emergency medical services.
