Three Nashville School District buses involved in crash on I-30 in Saline County

SALINE COUNTY, Ark.- The superintendent of the Nashville School District said a senior trip is canceled after three of their buses were involved in a chain-reaction wreck on Interstate 30 Wednesday morning. According to Superintendent Doug Graham, there were 116 students on the bus on their senior trip to Little Rock. “I guess a car in front of our first bus had some reason that they stopped abruptly, and we rear-ended that particular car," Graham said. "We hit them in the back, and so our second bus saw what was happening. Our second bus got stopped, and at that time, the third bus was not paying attention or did not get stopped, and they rear-ended our third bus, our middle bus.” According to the Arkansas State Police, 12 students were taken to local hospitals for minor injuries. Bryant School District sent buses to help with the remaining students. “My bus was, we were the first bus. [The students] were fine, of course, they look to you and want to know what's going on, but our bus driver pulled over," said Lacy Britt, a business teacher at Nashville School District. "The guy that we had rear-ended; he came over and checked on all of us.” Graham said the students will now head back to Nashville. ARDOT officials say the crash was cleared just before noon Wednesday.
