Three Henrico firefighters hurt after crash involving fire engine shut down I-64 East
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three Henrico County firefighters were hurt after a crash involving a fire engine shut down all lanes on Interstate 64 East on Wednesday, according to police. At about 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to I-64 east, just past the Parham Road exit for a report of a crash involving a Henrico fire engine and a dump truck. Police said an initial investigation reveals the Henrico fire engine was responding to a vehicle fire along I-64. The vehicle was reportedly stopped in the far-right lane when the dump truck hit the fire engine. Officials confirmed three firefighters were taken to a local hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening. The dump truck driver was evaluated on scene for minor injuries. As of 4:51 p.m., officials said the scene is clear and all lanes are open. No additional information is available as of the time of reporting.
