THP: One dead after crash on Unicoi Drive Thursday
UNICOI, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reports that one person is dead after a crash on Unicoi Drive at Sugar Hollow Road on Thursday evening. The THP stated in a preliminary crash report that the crash occurred around 6:12 p.m. According to the THP, a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Unicoi Drive as a Chevrolet S-10 was traveling southbound. The Ford allegedly failed to remain in the northbound lane and struck the left front of the Chevrolet with its front center. The passenger in the Chevrolet, Betty S. Edwards, 84, died at the scene, according to the THP. The drivers of the Ford, a 21-year-old, and the Chevrolet, an 80-year-old, were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the THP said. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
