Teenager killed in Rutland County car crash

CLARENDON, Vt. (NEWS10) -- A teenage boy is dead following a car crash in the town of Clarendon on Friday, according to Vermont State Police. The incident reportedly occurred on Creek Road. Police were dispatched to the scene just before 2:40 p.m. following a report of a single-car crash. An investigation reportedly found that a Volkswagen had been traveling south on Creek Road when the driver failed to maintain his lane of travel and exited the roadway, colliding head-on with a tree. The driver has been identified as 16-year-old Jacob Smith of Proctor. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
