Teenage Good Samaritan injured in hospital after assisting stranded driver on Christmas Eve
A teenage boy is currently in critical condition at Corewell Health Hospital in Dearborn after being hit by a vehicle while aiding a stranded motorist in Dearborn Heights on Christmas Eve. Alexander Johnson, 16, had stopped to assist in jumpstarting a car at the intersection of Van Born and John Daly when another vehicle rear-ended them, causing severe injuries. Alexander's mother, Whitney Johnson, shared his thoughts of not wanting to help others again but emphasized the importance of continuing to do good deeds. Alexander's injuries include two broken legs and temporary loss of feeling in his right leg, requiring multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery period. His family suspects distracted driving to be the cause of the incident and hopes the driver takes responsibility. Despite feeling guilty for "ruining Christmas," Alexander's family is supporting him wholeheartedly and maintaining the holiday spirit for when he returns home.
